4FOOD4FRIENDS:

In the 1½ years since our birthday we have made a lot of new friends! 4foodies around the world have been building, naming, branding, tweeting, posting, emailing, and otherwise shamelessly promoting their (W)holeburgers.

WE THINK THAT’S AWESOME!

To reward the most active of you for helping us to establish our brand we are launching 4FOOD4FRIENDS. It works like this:

This week a few 4food BFFs will receive a special email inviting them to offer up to 10 of their BFFs the chance to register at 4food.com and receive $5 in their 4food account just for signing up, as well as the $5 bonus for completing their profile. What’s in it for our BFF?! For every one of their friends that registers they get $5 - that’s up to $50 for de-junking your BFFs and to de-junk your summer!

THE SCOOP ON OUR SPRING/SUMMER SCHEDULE:

Fresh and local in Fall/Winter is very different from fresh and local in Spring/Summer and our culinary R/D team has been busy developing new scoops and re-imagining old favorites with an emphasis on what’s local and raw. One consequence of change you can believe in is that your builds will be shown out-of-stock until the scoops they depend upon are re-introduced this fall. Another is that your de-junked builds will be even more nutritious.

4/17 Sugar Snap Peas replace Edamame - and there’s nothing that Monsanto can do about it.

4/24 Carrot Slaw replaces Winter Slaw - a boon to eyesight everywhere.

5/1 Potato Salad arrives - all new and on our menu for the first time.

5/8 Mofongo replaces Pickled Peppers - and the 4food in-store playlist marks the occasion by the inclusion of Hector Lavoe’s Hacha y Machete.

5/15 Braised Collard Greens replace Braised Chinese Kale - bragging an abundance of phytonutrients and potent anti-cancer properties.

5/22 BBQ Baked Beans replaces Veggie Chili - as one classic replaces another, if only for a season.

5/29 Succotash (replacing TBD) - the Narragansett Native American tribe called "boiled corn kernels" Msíckquatash, which mixed with lima beans, tomatoes, and sweet red peppers became popular during the Great Depression.

6/5 Summer Squash (replacing TBD) - fruits of the species Cucurbita pepo that are considered vegetables in culinary use.

ON THE CHART/CHARTBEAT:

We froze the Buildboard chart over Easter and those extra 7 days shook our world: No MGR Lamb Burger for the first time in 56 weeks and no Erica. Beef is back to over 50% of Buildboard Chart sales (51.2%) as Salmon and Lamb go AWOL. AHARRIS’S Brioche-Beef-Avocado & Chili Mango-Avocado-Manchego-Lettuce-Tomato-Mustard all-time best-selling CaliBurger is back at #1, generating an incredible 50% more revenue than JFAVUZZA’S Better Turkey Burger at #2. NEWMANRA’S Cali4nication jumps over JANINEDM’S Burger De La Hoya which staggers down from #2 to #4. Lucy's Love by HENDE2001 smooches its way from #7 up to #5, pushing pumpernickel to hitherto unscaled heights of bun adoption. #winning burger, ANTYSON’S eulogy to “his messiness” Charlie Sheen (last seen lying inside a coffin, with his eyes closed in a 15 second teaser for the new FX comedy Anger Management) spends a sixth week hogging #6. ADTHELAD’S Monster Veggie keeps Pressed Rice Buns in the game at #7, though barely with 5.8% of sales. At #8 Mike's Add-on Burger, by the rookie MICHAELCOPPOLA, blazes Lucy’s Love’s trail, adding a Beef patty, a Mushroom & Onions scoop, a Pancetta Bacon slice, and Bleu cheese, Lettuce, Pickle, Tomato, Guacamole, and Mustard to a Pumpernickel bun, earning double $4food along the way. ANGELA1126’S Angela’s Veggie is this week’s biggest loser, falling from #5 to #9. MISSKHAHLIDRA’S #CaseOfTheMondays anchors the chart at #10 - and don’t miss her 3 SideTour classes @4food in May (www.sidetour.com).
